The Road to Peace

In September of 2004, an initiative of the Municipality of Venice put a group of ten young Israelis from the city of Rishon LeZion and a group of ten young Palestinians from Nablus together for a week on the small Island of St. Erasmus
(Isola di Sant’Erasmo) by the Venetian lagoon. The compulsory cohabitation facilitated the possibility of communication far from a reality that is increasingly dramatic and characterized by total incommunicability. For both groups it represented the first true occasion for an exchange of information with a sworn enemy.

Linked to this initiative are:

A documentary by Ferdinando Vicentini Orgnani
A soundtrack by Paolo Fresu.
A collection of contemporary artworks thanks to which the project will be financed and will be made possible the eventual distribution of the documentary in 12,000 Italian high schools as well as several hundred schools in Israel and Palestine.
